I had heard of the bread service at Saana (the Indian/African inspired restaurant at Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village) for quite a while. And every time someone raved about it I thought “Come on, how good can bread and dip be?”. Well, last week I experienced this phenomenon for myself and now I know. It can be REALLY, REALLY good!!
For $12 we received 5 kinds of bread and 9 different dips! The breads were: Traditional Naan, Garlic-Ginger Naan, Spiced Naan, Onion Kucha and Paneer Paratha.
The dipping sauces were:
- Cucumber Raita
- Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
- Mango Chutney
- Tomato-Date Jam
- Tamarind Chutney
- Coriander Chutney
- Garlic Pickle
- Red Chile Sambal
- Spicy Jalapeño-Lime Pickle
All of the breads were delicious but my favorite combination was the Garlic-Ginger Naan with the Cucumber Raita. Or maybe the Paneer Paratha with the Red Chile Sambal. Ok, there really wasn’t a combination I didn’t like! We ordered this as an appetizer but it was a ton of food! I think this bread, along with one of the wine flights, would be a perfect meal all by itself! I plan to test out that theory on my next visit! And you can rest assured that I will share the results with you!
If you have a chance to visit Saana, I highly recommend it! While the bread service was the standout for me, all of the food was unique and delicious!!
